FAQ

Do you accept insurance?
Insurance companies will routinely limit the amount of time we can spend with our patients. Our practice is unique in that we spend time that is not typically allotted by insurance plans to fully review your concerns and ensure your plan of care is individualized to fit your needs. I am out of network in all insurance plans and do not accept insurance.
We do not bill insurance, but we can provide you with a super bill to file with your insurance company.
The amount of reimbursement will depend on your specific insurance plan and deductible. We do not guarantee reimbursement.
We encourage you to contact your insurance plan to determine if you will be reimbursed for any of your services. However, you can utilize your HSA or FSA account and financing is available with Carecredit.
Do I still need a regular doctor/primary care provider?
Yes. Due to the nature of our practice, we will not be able to act as your primary care provider.
Do I still need to see a GYN provider?
Most women will still need to see a GYN provider for their routine PAP smear or GYN problems. We may be able to offer this in the future, but at this time no.
I saw Kristen as a primary care patient in Old Lyme. Can she still be my primary care provider?
No. Kristen will not be providing primary care services at Hormonal Harmony.
What are Out-of-Network Benefits?
Out-of-network health care refers to the nurse practitioners, physicians, facilities and treatment options that are outside of your health insurance company's group of affiliated providers. Even if a provider is fully licensed and recognized in their field, if they don't have a relationship with the insurance company, they're considered out of network.
Why are some providers Out-of-Network?
In-network providers are limited to treat only what health insurance companies deem “reasonable and customary”. This often leaves you with 10-minute visits and a prescription to treat symptoms. As an out-of-network practice, Kristen can take the time necessary to listen to your concerns in order to treat the root of the problem and not just the symptoms. We value a holistic approach, addressing all aspects of your health and well-being, without “reasonable and customary” restrictions by insurance companies.
What if I have Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare or Worker's Compensation?
Hormonal Harmony, LLC and Kristen Stehle, APRN are not participating in any government sponsored health-care service. She has opted-out of participation in Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Workman’s compensation plans. The patient CANNOT submit any charges directly to these health-care providers for services provided by this practice.
What if I don’t have insurance or my insurance isn’t accepted?
You can still be seen at our practice as a self-pay patient, even if you do not have out-of-network benefits or don’t have any health insurance at all.
But Why Don’t You Participate As “In-Network”?
We feel we can offer you better care outside of insurance. Excellent care takes time. If we accepted insurance plans we would not be able to achieve these goals.
What if I need lab work?
We order labs through Quest. If you would like to go elsewhere, we can provide a printed requisition. You can use your medical insurance to pay for labs.
